W-Beam & Thriebeam Armco type guardrail.
Installed on highways, local council roads, warehouses,  carparks, etc.

W-Beam
The standard railing for most applications for road side, carparks, driveways, to protect buildings, machinery, etc. Can be installed with posts in-ground or posts with baseplates anchored to concrete footings / slabs with chemsets or masonry anchors. When installed on roads we use current RTA standard components and install to RTA guidelines. If w-beam is to be used around carparks, etc. then the BCA must be used for guidelines for installation as AS3845-1999 does not cover these situations.

Thriebeam
Normally installed where obstacles e.g. road side signs, power poles, etc. Require protection from vehicles. Can be used around buildings for higher levels of protection. Installation of posts same as w-beam.

Wire Rope Barriers
A lower visual impact barrier than W-Beam or Thriebeam and therefore seen as a more attractive barrier in suburban areas. Has its own limitations though due to not being able to be used on curves under 200 metre radii and also has a small degree of trip hazards where anchor blocks are fitted at ends. Posts are inserted in sleeves concreted in-ground with anchor blocks at each end holding tension on wires.
